"When art and psychotherapy are joined, the scope and depth of each can be expanded, and when they are working together, they are tied to the continuities of humanities history of healing" Shawn McNiff
What is Art Therapy?
Art therapy is a healing modality that uses creative expression to process emotions. Often times trauma impacts our identity and traumatic memories are locked in the body, causing a disturbance in everyday life functioning. Art Therapy is a way to safely express and give voice to the losses of trauma and remember who we truly are. You do not need to be an 'artist' to practice art therapy, just a safe container to be able to creatively process difficult emotions. Utilizing the right side of the brain to facilitate in healing, art therapy can open up the possibilities to fully thrive in our lives.
