We begin by acknowledging that, here in Nova Scotia, we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. We are all treaty people.
Wild Art Therapy approaches health and healing from a Transpersonal perspective. This means we depend upon, value and include more than just human beings in the healing process. One's relationship to Self often includes so much more than our body and mind. We are made up of the people, places, systems, cultures, animals, plants, and spirituality around us. We honor these sacred connections and invite them into the therapeutic process.

nathan M. torti, MA, RCTTranspersonal Wilderness therapist“Stewardship for Oneself, Others and the Natural World”
Nathan is a clinical therapist for young adults, individuals and families who struggle with complex trauma as well as substance abuse and addictive behaviors, anxiety, big emotions and technology addictions. Nathan weaves Wilderness Counseling Therapy with Transpersonal Psychology to create a foundation of Eco-centric healing with three foundations: Everyone is basically sane, everyone is trying to get their needs met and everyone is doing the best they can with what they are aware of. His approach is to support clients to connect with their innate capacity to heal by listening. Together, we create a safe enough space for people to come out of their heads (problem solving) and into their heart (emotional literacy) and body (intuition). By cultivating a new kind of relationship with ourselves, we can steward a fluid connection to our health, healing and empowerment. He has been successfully creating and facilitating creative Wilderness Therapy programs and interventions such as rock climbing, hiking, snowboarding and ceremony as well as therapeutic work with wolves and horses since 2001. All of his work involves mindfulness-based activities including an innovative Tai Chi Chaun group that has been recognized in the clinical guide: Internet Addiction in Children and Adolescents. Risk Factors and Assessment and Treatment (2017). |
